As part of the initiative, on November 9, an extended meeting with the councils of young scientists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held.
During the meeting, the young scientists shared the problems and challenges faced by the young scientists of the Department, as well as how the institutions are restoring the infrastructure that was destroyed in connection with the full-scale invasion. One of the most important issues, which was raised during the meeting, is concern over the actions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine during the implementation of reforms to introduce “training of higher education applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy”. During the meeting, the negative consequences to which these reforms will lead were discussed, as well as the need to update the current legislation “on the preparation of higher education applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy” and “the procedure for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy” in accordance with the specifics of conducting research works depending on the field of activity .
During the meeting, it was agreed to create working groups to jointly search for solutions to the problematic issues that were discussed, because only joint efforts can achieve a high-level result.
